...Overlooking the snowy, dirty street, Vince does not feel a chill. The blistering wind has no effect across his face, looking down into the dark and bloody pathway his body warmed, his heart enriched with life, a full rigor of all sences on four-alarms. Gripping the frozen metal bars of the fire escape, his fangs retracting in, his eyes re-focus as he tries to blink out the image he had seen. Never had he known such rage. Still trembling from a shock of both fear and andrenaline, the metallic ooze of clotted blood just as fresh in his memory as the image he so desperately tried to shake off. "No...no , it can't be - but somehow I know it is TRUE!" he barely muffles to himself. He blinks. And again, blinking in some hopes to erase the sight of his friend, Zakk laying lifeless in the alley. Then an image flashes again in his mind, none the less harrowing. A blink, followed by the strange man laughing. A blink and then the woman he seduced, her teeth, can it be? Images pour over and over. Then he remembers, when he was bitten, and how he knew he had to move on. Another blink and the horrible sight returns, and a voice saying in a guttaral laugh, "Yes ... you know. You know what you are." Suddenly as if a wish came true, he sees Zakk, moving. His eyes widened as if his life had been raped a million times over and the words replayed in his head of the strange laughing man. "yes you know you are, one of US". | this |
